Periodontitis is a more common inflammation of the periodontium, which can lead to tooth loosening and tooth loss. Almost one in two adults suffers from periodontitis. In most cases, this chronic inflammation of the periodontium (tooth root, gums and bones) progresses without pain and unnoticed. There is an association between periodontitis and systemic diseases such as: diabetes.

What is periodontal disease?
